"It been a very difficult market to call all day, but people seem to be holding on to current levels partly until the see how Chicago finishes and ahead of the holiday in some parts of Europe on Tuesday," said one trader. Traders said the USDA crop report was within expectation and had little impact in Europe. Chicago soy futures fell sharply in fast trading amid ideas the market was overbought. Palm oil prices were supported by the limit-up close on the Malaysian palm oil futures market, but traders said there was no fundamental reason for the rise. "All the data we have had recently has pointed to lower prices, but for reasons we cannot find out, sentiment pushed the market higher, said another trader. At the close crude palm oil cif Europe was $7.50 up to unchanged while products were $5 to $10 higher. One additional trade was reported during the afternoon when Jan/Jun olein fetched $567.50 a tonne fob Malaysian ports. Soft oils finished with soy oil one to guilders up and rape oil 1.50 to one guilder higher, both unchanged from midday. Lauric oils were neglected and closed with coconut oil $5 up and palmkernel oil quoted $10 to $17.50 higher. Informacije: Zoran Popijač telefon: 01/273-927 fax: 01/4550-148 111059 MET nov 97
