The soft oil sector finished mostly unchanged to one guilder firmer in line with recent gains in Chicago, but with traders for the most part sidelined due to a feeling that Chicago gains could not be sustained. "Chicago seems to have risen just on talk of Chinese buying interest, but unless this turns in to reality, I think Chicago will have to head downwards," one trader said. Rape oil traded Dec at 134.50/136.50 guilders. Other rape oil business, saw Feb sold at 122/122.50 and May/Jul at 118/118.50. The palm oil sector closed mostly $2.50 either side of Monday's close, although the overall sentiment in the absense of fresh news was midly bearish. No trade was reported during the afternoon. Lauric oils languishing in the doldrums closed $2.50 to $5 down on coconut oil, while palmkernel oil ended $7.50 to $15 down.
