Early losses on Chicago soybean oil futures were cited as a reason for some sectors to slip lower, although this only affected some of the palm oils and the lauric oils, while the soft oils rose slightly amid light short-covering. At the close the soft oils stood as much as one guilder firmer than Monday's finish. Soy oil traded at 118 guilders for Nov, while rape oil fetched 120/120.25 guilders for both Dec and Nov/Jan. The palm oil sector closed mostly $2.50 to $5 easier, although stearin ended $5 firmer. Trade during the afternoon was confined to Oct stearin at $425 and Dec/Mar RBD palm oil at $527.50.
