At the close coconut oil stood $5 to $12.50 easier, with trade ranging from Oct/Nov at $630/$625 through to Feb/Mar at $660. Palmkernel oil slipped in sympathy with coconut oil to finish $7.50 lower. The palm oil sector ignored the falling coconut oil and an earlier limit down move on the Malaysian palm oil futures to close $2.50 easier. Traders said the fall in Malaysia was currency driven, so was unlikely to affect the European market, especially as underlying demand remained good. During the afternoon palm olein traded Nov at $550. Oct was thought to have possibly traded at $545 but this couldn't be confirmed. During the morning Oct traded at $552.50. Crude palm oil fetched $535/$537.50 for Nov material and $542.50 for Dec. The soft oil sector slipped under neglect and ended 0.25 to 1.50 guilders below Wednesday's close.
