"There's very little interest around at the moment and I think people travelling back from the trade dinner in Malaysia on Friday has added to the overall quietness," one said. The palm oil sector found little fresh impetus from Chicago soyoil futures and slipped back a touch but still finished up to $5 firmer than Friday's close. Only one trade was reported, for Apr/Jul palm olein at $550. The soft oil sector ended 0.50 guilders either side of Friday's close and virtually unchanged from midday. Two trades were reported, one for Nov/Jan soy oil at 112.75 guilders and one for Nov rape oil at 116. Lauric oils finished unchanged from midday apart from Oct/Nov which rose $5 to $645.
