Tight supplies underpinned soft oils for most of the day although by the close there were signs of the market creaking as Chicago futures turned lower. However, traders said the downside remains limited until the New Year. Palm oil draw support from firm Malaysian futures following the release of the latest export data from SGS although there was some slight easing in the forward positions towards the close. Malaysian cargo surveyor Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS) Malaysia estimated Malaysia's palm oil exports for Nov 1-25 at 543,315 tonnes against 574,126 tonnes for October 1-25. Traders said on the face of it the figures did not look bullish when compared with the same period last month...."but when you look at the last export figures released by SGS they certainly do look bullish," said one. On November 17 SGS put exports for Nov 1-15 at 284,065 tonnes. "That means they have loaded 259,250 tonnes in 10 days, which if right, is bullish," said another trader. At the close crude palm oil cif Europe and refined palm oil fob Malaysian ports were all unchanged to $2.50 up. Dutch soy oil closed 0.50 guilders down to 0.50 guilders up after a tradeless session. Rape oil was one guilder down to 0.50 guilders up at the close after Feb/Apr traded at 119.50 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill with crushers on the sell side and consumers buying. Coconut oil close $5 to $7.50 lower after Jan/Feb traded at $610 and $605, Feb/Mar at $620 and $615 and Mar/Apr at $625 in light dealer trading. Palmkernel oil closed $10 down with no trade reported.
