The palm oil sector received more bearish news during the morning when Malaysian cargo surveyor SGS released its latest export estimates for November. The Malaysian cargo surveyor Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS) Malaysia Sdn Bhd said it estimated Malaysia's palm oil exports for November 1-20 at 362,140 tonnes compared with 486,472 tonnes for October 1-20. Traders said the figures appeared to back up the view that the market is undersold. "The general view is the market is undersold and the only doubts people have is about what the Indonesians will do." said one trader. "Many people think at the end of the day if the Indonesians need the foreign exchange they will sell palm oil no matter what limits are set," the trader added. Crude palm oil cif Europe closed $2.50 to $5 while products were $2.50 to $7.50 lower with additional trade reported in RBD palm oil at $530 a tonne for Dec and $535 for Jan/Mar fob Malaysian ports. Coconut oil closed $10 down after Dec/Jan traded at $610, Jan/Feb at $622.50 and Feb/Mar at $630, $632.50 and $635 a tonne cif. Traders said the business was mainly inter-dealer and was a mix of outright trading and switching. Palmkernel oil finished $5 lower with no business reported. Soft oil prices were lower at the close owing to improved planting conditions in Brazil with sellers ignoring the rally in Chicago towards the close of the European market. Dutch soy oil closed 2.50 to two guilders down after Nov traded at 137, Jan at 125 and Feb/Mar at 118 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill.
