Merino fleece of 19/20/21 microns was 0.5 percent dearer, 22/23m up to one percent dearer, 24m unchanged, 25m 0.5 percent cheaper and 26m slightly dearer, with merino skirtings generally unchanged. In crossbreds, 27/28/29m were slightly dearer, 30m up to one percent dearer and 31m 0.5 percent cheaper, while cardings were generally unchanged. WI said Japan and Western Europe were principal operators with good support from most sectors of the trade. Of the 12,748 bales offered, 5.7 percent were passed in. Orderbooks are tending to fall as buyers in the UK hold back while they see prices continuing to fall, traders said.
