Merino fleece of 19/21/22/23/25/26 microns were slightly dearer, 20m 0.5 percent dearer and 24m unchanged while merino skirtings were generally unchanged. In crossbreds, 27/31m were 0.5 percent cheaper and 28/29/30m slightly cheaper. Cardings were unchanged. WI said Japan and Western Europe were principal operators with good support from most sectors of the trade. Of the 18,058 bales offered, 8.6 percent were passed in. The brokers acting on behalf of the British Wool Marketing Board offered around 2,021,000 kilos of British wool. Compared with the previous Scottish sale on October 8, cheviots and halfbreds were 2.5 percent cheaper, best halfbred wethers and blackface sold in sellers favour, with crosses sold in buyers favour. 201146 MET nov 97
