Easier Chicago futures on improved weather forecasts for the end of the week also took some pressure off prices. On the palm oil market Ivan Wong's latest Malaysian palm oil estimate was within expectations and had little impact. The Malaysian private forecaster put end-July production at 823,000 tonnes, up 4.5 percent and projected stocks at 805,000 tonnes against PORLA's 786,123 for June. Exports were estimated at 705,000 tonnes against 612,124 tonnes in June. Traders added the most significant factor is the pick up in Indonesian production and they see this as the main danger as far as Malaysian exports are concerned in the next couple of months. "Malaysian exports look good now, but many people feel this could change very soon," said one. "Some speculators in Malaysia are playing up the effect of the dollar on the price of palm oil, but the lower price works for Indonesia as well," said other. Lauric oils finished higher with light inter-dealer trading reported during the afternoon. At the close of business Dutch soy oil was 2.50 to one guilder up while rape oil was 0.50 to one guilder higher after Sep traded at 108 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill. Crude palm oil cif Europe finished $2.50 up while products were mixed at $2.50 higher to $2.50 lower. Coconut oil closed $10 up after Aug/Sep traded at $570, Oct/Nov at $570 and $575 and Nov/Dec at $575 a tonne cif in out-right business. Aug/Sep traded at $570 in a switch with Nov/Dec at $575 and Sep/Oct traded at $565 in a switch with Oct/Nov at $570. Palmkernel oil offers finished $10 to $5 higher after Sep/Oct traded at $550 and $552.50 and Oct/Nov at $552.50 a tonne cif.
