Guilder based soft oil prices soared after the dollar broke through two guilders with limit gains in soybean futures on weather concerns adding to upward pressure. Lower Asian currencies against the dollar and short covering ahead of official Malaysian palm oil output, stocks and export data from the Malaysian Palm Oil Registration and Licensing Authority (PORLA) on Tuesday underpinned palm oil prices. "We have a weather market running in Chicago which has not affected palm oil prices yet, but we expected it will have by Tuesday," said one trader. In his last crop report for June Malaysian private forecaster Ivan Wong put palm oil output for June at 788,000 tonnes against 790,640 tonnes at end-May, while stocks were estimated at 795,000 tonnes against the 711,841 calculated by PORLA in May. The official data from PORLA is due for release on Tuesday morning at around 0430 GMT. At the close Dutch soyoil was 3.50 to 4.50 guilders up with no further business reported while rape oil was 2.50 guilders higher after Aug/Oct and Nov/Jan traded at 103.50 guilders in a three way switch. Traders said despite the number of trades the market was far from active. Crude palm oil closed $10 to $2.50 up while products were $2.50 to $5 higher. Coconut oil closed unchanged to $2.50 up while palmkernel oil was $2.50 down to $5 higher on neglected markets. Informacije: Zoran Popijač telefon: 01/273-927 fax: 01/4550-148 150938 MET jul 97
