A slight easing in the dollar also helped to take the upward pressure out of the market, but the firmness of the U.S. currency still remains the main factor. Earlier palm oil prices rallied following the release of export data by Malaysian cargo surveyor Societe General de Surveillance (SGS). SGS projected an improved export picture during the first 25 days of July while the firm dollar could make palm oil more attractive to buyers. SGS estimated local palm oil exports between July 1-25 at 580,916 tonnes against 510,578 during the same period in June. At the close Dutch soy oil was unchanged to 0.75 guilders up while rape oil was 0.25 to 0.50 guilders higher. In light trading Nov/Jan soy oil traded at 105.50 guilders in a switch with Nov/Jan rape oil at even money. One outright trade was reported in rape oil when Sep fetched 104 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill. Crude palm oil closed $5 up while refined palm oil was $2.50 to $5 higher with no further business reported. Lauric oils were quiet after one early trade in palmkernel oil and closed with coconut oil 7.50 to $5 up and palmkernel oil $2.50 to $5 higher.
