Origins and dealers were the main participants with business reported between $555 and $567.50 a tonne, depending on position. "The market has hardly traded all week and has just been catching up with itself this afternoon," one said. Palm oil closed with further small gains on the back of export data released by two Malaysian cargo surveyors and higher Chicago futures. Caleb Brett estimated July exports at 722,389 tonnes against its June estimate of 634,753 while SGS pegged sales at 710,836 against 611,368. Soft oils edged lower, with soyoil sellers 0.50 guilders down and rape oil 0.50 to one guilder lower. Trading was light with Aug/Oct soyoil fetching 114.50 guilders while Sept rape oil traded at 105.50, Sept/Oct at 106 and Nov/Jan at 107.50 guilders a 100 kilos ex-mill. Palm oil finished with crude $5 to $2.50 up while products were $2.50 higher to $2.50 lower. Coconut oil closed with offers $15 down after July/Aug traded at $555, Sept/Oct at $565 and $560, Oct/Nov at $565, Nov/Dec at $565 and $560 and Dec/Jan at $567.50 a tonne cif in a mixture of switches and outright business.
