Most players had been awaiting the release of the USDA's crop report but this contained no surprises, however, and any hope of business was snuffed out by sharply lower Chicago soy futures on ideal soybean growing conditions. News that the Philippines Central Bank would allow the peso to move in a wider range against the dollar was seen as having only limited impact on coconut oil prices in Europe. "It will take a few days to sort out, but in the end I think the impact will be minimal," said one trader. Palm oil was quiet and little changed with refiner buying and selling dominating the market. "The same refiner has been in the market, selling nearby olein and buying forward, said one trader. At the close crude palm oil was unchanged to $2.50 up while products were $2.50 down to $5 higher with no further business reported. Coconut oil closed with sellers $2.50 up to $5 down after Sep/Oct traded at $602.50 a tonne cif. Palmkernel oil was $5 down and neglected. Soft oils were unchanged from midday with sellers for soy oil 0.25 guilders down to unchanged and rape oil unchanged to 1.25 guilders lower.
