ZAGREB, June 21 (Hina) - A strike of customs officers which began at
8 am on Thursday was discontinued at noon today, the Croatian union
of customs officers said on Friday. #L#
The union decided to stop with the strike due to very long lines at
border crossings, representatives said. They stressed the union
was not entirely satisfied with a government decree on supplements
for special working conditions in state services. The other demands
aimed at improving the material position of customs officers have
not been met, they said.
The union said the warning strike, which had included 80 percent of
customs employees, had been completely successful.
Today the union will call on the government to resume negotiations
on demands which should enhance the material and working status of
customs officers.
