ZAGREB, May 23 (Hina) - One cannot encourage export and new

said on Thursday.#L#
He said that according to the information he had, amendments to the
Labour Act were not a priority for the World Bank.
This issue is not a priority for the World Bank because it is not in
its interest that a labour law of poor quality be passed in Croatia,
Juric said.
He expressed satisfaction with a conclusion adopted by the
government, employers and unions at a meeting on Wednesday, under
which negotiations on changes to the Labour Act would resume after
the government adopts an integral package of development
measures.
As soon as we see other government measures will we be ready to
discuss changes to the labour act, Jurcic said and added that
Croatian unions were supported by the largest European union
association - the European confederation of free unions.
A neo-liberal development concept, currently present in countries
in transition, could also hit developed European economies due to
the wave of globalisation, Juric said.
He said that an international conference on work legislation
reforms would be held in Zagreb in mid-June. The conference will be
attended by unionists from Poland, Bulgaria, Serbia and Slovakia.
