Railways (HZ) unions began a one-hour strike in front of the HZ
management building on Tuesday. #L#
The Union of Croatian Railway Workers, the Maintenance Union and
the Rail Escort Union are requesting that the management respect an
agreement by which a collective agreement or a new rule book is to be
applied as of June 1, not July 1, as the management suggested.
The unions are also requesting that the price of an hour's work,
working stations of the same education degree in various services,
and bonuses for difficult working conditions be harmonised.
The unions which gather 3,850 members of the total of 16,000 HZ
employees, are threatening to organise a four-hour warning strike
on June 12 if the management does not accept their requests.
All railway traffic across Croatia would stop during the four-hour
strike, they said.
