ZAGREB, June 4 (Hina) - Croatia's Labour and Social Welfare
Minister Davorko Vidovic on Tuesday said unions' requests for his
resignation spoke more about the "seriousness" of unions than his
work. #L#
Four union federations have requested that Vidovic step down,
claiming that he has done nothing useful since he took the office of
the labour minister.
Blanket labelling made by union leaders speaks more about their
seriousness than my work, reads a statement issued by Vidovic.
Vidovic believes that the gravity of this request and the
insistence on the resignation of other government officials,
including the country's premier and president, should be examined
by the public according to the seriousness of reasons which
prompted the union leaders to make those requests.
At Tuesday's press conference, the presidents of the Independent
Croatian Unions (NHS), Croatian Association of Workers' Unions
(URSH), Croatian Association of Unions (HUS), and the Federation of
Independent Croatian Unions (SSSH) asked that Vidovic resign.
