A mixture of speculative and trade buying helped to fuel today's upswing, which came one day after the cocoa market tumbled to its lowest level in three months. "It was just a small rally to help correct the oversold condition," one trader said. March futures rose $14 a tonne to close at $1,604, after trading from $1,591 to $1,612. Spot December gained $8 to $1,571. The back months all ended $14 higher. The day's volume was estimated at 53,56 lots. Technically, the benchmark March contract topped out at $1,612, a key resistance point. If the market failed to settle above that level on Thursday it could trigger a fresh pursuit of an important support area toward $1,570. 201141 MET nov 97
