OSIJEK, Feb 27 (Hina) - The deputy head of the Croatian
government office for restoration of Croatian authority in
Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and Western Srijem, Mirko Tankosic, met
for talks with a European Commission delegation in the eastern
city of Osijek on Tuesday.
Tankosic told reporters after the closed-door meering that
he informed the guests about activities of his office in creating
conditions for normal life in the occupied Croatian areas.
After this meeting, Croatia expected substantial financial
and professional assistance in the reconstruction of the areas,
Tankosic added.
The head of the European Commission's Foreign Affairs
Department, Renato Batti, said that earlier in the day his
delegation had visited Visited where they met local Serb
officials for talks on the reconstruction of the town.
Batti said that the European delegation now had a full
picture of what the international community should do in the
process of rebuilding the areas. He expressed confidence that
concrete proposals would be presented soon.
