FORMER CROATIAN SERB REBEL, ACCUSED OF WAR CRIMES, ARRESTED

SISAK, April 4 (Hina) - Sisak-Moslavina police brought Nebojsa Jelic alias Neso (aged 40) in the county court in Sisak (some 60 kilometres south-east of Zagreb) at about 11.00 am Tuesday, because he is suspected of having committed war crimes against prisoners of war in the end of June 1991 in the Knin and Glina areas, local police reported on Tuesday. A few days ago this Croatian Serb returned from Yugoslavia to Croatia. He offered no resistance during the arrest and said it was better for him to be in a Croatian prison than in Serbia, the police said. Anti-terrororist units of the police carried out an investigation against Jelic.
