ZAGREB, March 14 (Hina) - The Croatian National Sabor will most
probably establish an investigation commission for Croatia's daily
"Vecernji List" despite the opposition of Vecernji List
attorneys.
Sabor's committees for the Constitution, the rule book and
political system, as well as for legislature, at Tuesday's session
decided recommend to the House of Representatives to establish an
investigation commission to examine circumstances of the sale of
the daily and try to establish who is its real owner.
Vecernji List attorney Zvonimir Hodak filed charges against vice
Premier Zeljka Antunovic for her statements that the daily had been
bought with laundered money.
Hodak pointed to a regulation in line with which an investigation
commission, for a certain issue which is a subject to a court trial,
cannot be established.
The two committees believe that the charges and the investigation
commission will not deal with the same issue. The Commission will be
found due to issues of public interest, while charges against
Zeljka Antunovic are of private interest.
