ZAGREB, June 3 (Hina) - Two Croatian Railway trade unions will on
Tuesday organise an hour-long protest demanding that the HZ
management harmonise the salaries of workers with the same
qualifications. #L#
The protest will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 hours in front of the HZ
directorate in Zagreb.
The Union of Croatian Engine Drivers and the Union of Maintenance
Workers demand that the price of labour of employees with the same
qualifications working in different HZ sectors be the same.
The unions demand that bonuses for difficult working conditions be
determined and that the collective agreement go into force to cover
the period since May 1, and not on July 1 as suggested by the
management.
The two unions, which gather 3,500 of 16,000 HZ employees, have
threatened to go on a four-hour strike on Wednesday, June 12, should
the management refuse their demands. During the strike, passenger
and cargo transport in Croatia will be discontinued.
