Unionists believe that Deputy Prime Minister Goran Granic's claims
at a session of the Economic-Social Council (GSV) on Monday were
convincing and that amendments to the ZOR need not be adopted within
any specific deadline but that talks would continue until a good
quality and harmonised solution is reached.
The unions successfully convinced the Government that there is no
point in changing the ZOR rashly, president of the Association of
Labour Unions of Croatia Boris Kunst told Hina.
The president of the Independent Croatian Unions Kre{imir Sever
claimed that on Monday the Government for the first time showed
willingness to discuss some of the most contentious issues such as
the definition of small employers and severance pay for senior
employees.
It is good that along with amendments to the ZOR a series of other
laws will be considered comparatively in an effort to increase
Croatia's competitiveness, the president of the Alliance of
Independent Unions of Croatia Davor Juri} said.
At Monday's session of the GSV, the Government, employers and
unions agreed that talks should continue on the basis of an analysis
of how any possible changes in severance pay and the length of
dismissal periods could affect costs incurred by employers.
