"If we decide to strike, we will not need a great deal of money
because the workers who will strike at their places of work will not
seek payment," HUS president Zdenko Mucnjak said at a press
conference.
The head of the Croatian Employers' Association (HUP), Zeljko
Ivancevic, recently stated that the unions' threatening with
strikes was "a mere illusion" because the unions did not have
sufficient funds for long-term strike campaigns.
The HUS leader once gain dismissed HUP's claims that in order to
raise the Croatian economy's competitiveness it was necessary to
reduce workers' rights.
"Competitiveness requires capable managers, new products and
markets," Mucnjak said, estimating that the majority of Croatian
employers were not capable of fulfilling those conditions.
