During today's talks with representatives of the Independent Union
of Croatian Secondary School Employees, the ministry outlined new
proposals for the disputed agreement, but the statement does not
say what these are.
The union, which includes 12,000 of 20,000 secondary school
employees, is accusing the Education and Sports Ministry of
refusing to sign a branch collective agreement and, thereby,
refusing negotiations on holiday cash grants, Christmas bonuses,
and gifts for children. The union demands the reduction of the work
norm, higher incomes and regular payment thereof.
The union has announced the strike will last until demands are met.
The strike will be held on the workplace, working days between 8 am
and 3 pm.
