Loncar, a member of ethnic Serb rebel troops, ordered artillery
attacks against civilian targets in Osijek and its suburbs of
Josipovac and Visnjevac from September 1991 to May 1992. In those
assaults a great number of citizens were killed and damage was
caused to flats, business establishments and religious objects.
The appeal lodged by Loncar's defence team against the verdict of
the Osijek County Court was rejected by the Supreme Court. The
defendant, born in 1960, has been kept in custody since September
2001.
