Wreath-laying ceremonies will be held across Croatia to remember
those who were killed in the defence of the country.
Defence Minister Zeljka Antunovic will attend the main ceremony in
Knin where a Croatian flag will be hoisted on the town castle. Knin
was the centre of the Serb rebellion in the first half of the 1990s.
At cemeteries in Knin and other towns, wreaths will be laid by
delegations of the government, the parliament and the president of
the republic.
Three documentaries on the liberation of Knin, Operation Storm and
the reintegration of formerly occupied territories will be shown in
Zagreb's central Ban Jelacic square. The event is organised by a war
veterans association.
Wreath-laying ceremonies were held in many places already on
Monday. A delegation of the leading opposition party HDZ laid
wreathes and lit candles at the Homeland Altar and the grave of the
first Croatian president and HDZ leader, Franjo Tudjman, in
Zagreb.
