ZAGREB, March 7 (Hina) - The Croatian government has turned down a
HSLS motion to annul an agreement with Slovenia on the jointly-

application would be economically harmful for Croatia, Economy
Minister Ljubo Jurcic said in parliament on Friday. #L#
Presenting the government's view of the Social Liberals (HSLS)
motion, Jurcic said this opposition party's claims about
indications that the Slovenes would not meet the conditions
necessary to put the deal into force were also incorrect.
Jurcic said the Slovene parliament ratified the deal on February 25
and that it was realistic to expect the country would forward a
diplomatic note aimed at starting the implementation of the
agreement.
Speaking about the damage Croatia was suffering, Jurcic said the
biggest damage for Croatia's power supply company HEP was that it
was not managing its part of Krsko or receiving electricity. This
can be changed only if the agreement goes into force, he said.
The Croatian government will propose a settlement to the Slovenes
with regard to compensation for the damage HEP is sustaining for
non-delivery of power, said the minister. If no agreement is
reached, HEP may resort to arbitration to protect its property
rights, he said.
Jurcic's presentation was followed by a debate on the HSLS bill.
