ZAGREB, March 4 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament President Zlatko
Tomcic and the Council of Europe Secretary-General, Walter
Schwimmer, on Tuesday discussed topics relating to the
parliamentary cooperation of Council of Europe member-states. #L#
Schwimmer asked to be informed about the reflection of the
activities of the Croatian parliamentary delegation to the
functioning of Sabor.
Tomcic said Sabor working bodies often used the experience of the
Council of Europe from the fields of justice, human rights,
minorities' rights, media etc.
In this context he described the Council of Europe's experience and
advice as very useful for Croatian parliament's law-making
activities, especially in light of Croatia's recent application
for full EU membership.
Commenting on the post-monitoring process, the Croatian official
voiced hope that conditions would be created for its
discontinuation, and Schwimmer pointed out the importance of
reporting about positive results of post-monitoring dialogue.
