The head of the SDP bench said his party had drawn up a new electoral
law, but it would not send the bill into parliamentary procedure as
long as there were prospects of reaching agreement on a joint
proposal within the ruling coalition or even broader.
"We do not think that there will be problems for us to win again,
together with the partners, under the existent law, with minor
changes to it, if we clearly present what we have done so far and
what we are planning to do in the next term of office," he said.
SDP MPs will fully support the government's bids to submit the
application for Croatia's membership of the EU by late February,
and the adjustment of rules will considerably contribute to the
quicker and more efficient resolution of open social and political
issues, he said.
Arlovic added his party would pay full attention to the
implementation of necessary reforms aimed at speedy and better
development of the country.
The SDP will advocate the adoption of a law on the consumer
protection and will together with the government propose a law on
the prevention of the conflict of interests.
