ZAGREB, Jan 20 (Hina) - Union federations have refused the initiative by the Croatian Employers Union (HUP) for a meeting to discuss amendments to the Labour Act and mutually admissible solutions, HUP said in a press release

Such avoidance of social dialogue shows how unready unionists are
to hold open talks and try to reach acceptable solutions for this
important issue, HUP said.
The press release recalls that HUP repeatedly called on unions to
cooperate so that the labour legislation would be so regulated as to
secure economic development with an adequate level of protected
workers' rights.
If unions continued to evade the responsibility to solve open
issues in social dialogue, they would be disqualified as social
partners and representatives of the labour force, HUP said.
