UNITED NATIONS, Jan 15 (Hina) - The U.N.'s Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in 2002 achieved progress in building peace, preventing conflicts, and coordinating U.N. bodies, and strengthened cooperation with international financial
and trading institutions, outgoing ECOSOC chairman Ivan Simonovic of Croatia said on Wednesday in New York.
UNITED NATIONS, Jan 15 (Hina) - The U.N.'s Economic and Social
Council (ECOSOC) in 2002 achieved progress in building peace,
preventing conflicts, and coordinating U.N. bodies, and
strengthened cooperation with international financial and trading
institutions, outgoing ECOSOC chairman Ivan Simonovic of Croatia
said on Wednesday in New York. #L#
Croatia's permanent representative to the United Nations,
Simonovic today handed over his duty as ECOSOC chairman, which he
held for the past year. He will be replaced by Guatemala's Gert
Rosenthal.
Simonovic is returning to Croatia, where in February he will take on
the office of deputy foreign minister.
