ZAGREB, Oct 6 (Hina) - The construction and maintenance of border crossings and customs facilities in the next five to seven years will require funds worth 350-500 million kuna, Interior Minister Marijan Mlinaric said at a government session on Wednesday.

How much assistance will be obtained from European funds will depend on the capability of the Croatian negotiating team, Mlinaric said at the session at which the government passed a decree defining border control standards that are to be met in the process of integration with the European Union.

The decree creates conditions for meeting the Schengen standards on border crossings and entrusts relevant bodies and institutions with adjusting to those standards until December 31, 2007.

The government also sent to parliament the final bill on the protection of patients and a bill on changes to the Law on the Lease of Business Premises.
