ZAGREB, Oct 6 (Hina) - The Croatian government on Wednesday passed a decree banning state officials from receiving money as a gift, regardless of the amount, and allowing them to keep only symbolic gifts, worth up to 500 kuna at the most.

A gift exceeding 500 kuna must not be kept, but must be handed over to the body where the state official who received the gift is employed (for example, the government or the parliament), after which the gift becomes state property.

The body where the official in question is employed registers gifts and keeps record of the names and addresses of recipients and providers of gifts, with a description of the gift, the date it was given and the date when it was handed over.
