PLOVANIJA, Sept 22 (Hina) - A spokesperson for the Istria County
police department told reporters on Wednesday that a group of 12 unidentified
Slovene citizens today illegally crossed the Slovene-Croatian border near the
Plovanija border crossing to reach the house of Josko Joras, a Slovene living
in Buje, who is known for denying Croatia's territorial integrity in that part
of the border area. After visiting Joras, the visitors on their way back again bypassed the
official border crossing, after which they were stopped by Croatian border
police.
Since they violated the law on state border control and the movement and
sojourn of foreign nationals, the police used coercion to take the Slovene
citizens to the Buje police station, during which no incidents happened,
spokesperson Stefanija Prosenjak Zumber said, adding that criminal charges
would be pressed against the foreign nationals.
According to first unofficial reports, the Slovenes are members of the
Slovene People's Party, led by Janez Podobnik. Josko Joras is a member of the
party.
