Three-months last traded at $2,132 per tonne, down $47 from Thursday's late kerb close, after hitting a low of $2,122. The cash to threes backwardation continued to narrow and at one stage headed towards $130. But spreads then widened to end the kerb at around $150. Traders attributed copper's losses to the third consecutive rise in LME stocks after months of steady declines. Stocks rose by 6,400 tonnes, at the high end of expectations, spurring copper to extend losses posted late on Thursday, when copper slid below $2,200. Volumes had initially picked up in ring trading after a muted pre-market. But a lack of follow-through selling induced a bounce. However, traders believed prices were destined to head toward $2,100 in the near term after the breach of $2,150. Traders dimissed any impact on the market from overnight comments by U.S. Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan, which were seen to imply that the current levels of U.S. asset markets were overdone. Aluminium initially headed lower with copper despite a drawdown in stocks of 3,325 tonnes. But it bounced off a low of $1,513 to finish the kerb at $1,520, down $3 from Thursday. It was being defended on the downside, although prices were increasingly vulnerable to testing the key $1,500 support level, traders said. Other metals were also pulled lower with copper. Nickel shed $40 and ended at $6,840. Lead last traded at $682, down $8.00, while zinc was $18 lower at $1,047. Tin drifted down $55 and finished at $6,035, while alloy was last indicated down $5 at $1,355/60. FRANCUSKI METALI - 06. prosinca 1996. BAKAR FFR/100 KG 1229 KOSITAR FFR/100 KG 3782 CINK EL.
