Also aiding the recovery was borrowing of nearby spreads which saw copper's cash to three months backwardation settle at $160, against earlier levels of $145. Traders said they expected the market to broadly consolidate ahead of Tuesday's LME stocks release. Benchmark three months delivery traded between $2,157 and $2,188. It was last at $2,187, versus Friday's LME kerb close of $2,208. "The market was looking overbought but is unlikely to make a serious move until the stocks are out of the way," one trader commented. Several others suggested the pace of declines in inventories will continue to slow and they could even register a rise soon. Traders also noted a move by the London Clearing House (LCH) to raise copper's cash to three months spread margin. The LCH said the spread margin was raised to $3,750 from $1,875 Elsewhere, aluminium eased after earlier Far Eastern liquidation. It moved towards support at $1,500, Last business was at $1,504.50, a loss of $26.50. Nickel in thin trade gyrated either side of $6,900. It settled at $6,910, unchanged. Lead dropped $5 to $705, while zinc settled at $1,079, down $1. Tin was last at $6,090/$6,100, versus $6,115. Alloy was quoted at $1,354/55, against $1,370.
