Three-months copper ended the kerb at $2,243 per tonne, down $12 from Thursday's late close, after general buying lifted prices from a low of $2,229, traders said. LME stocks rose by 2,425 tonnes after months of steady declines to 6-1/4 year lows. The cash to threes backwardation was last indicated at around around $238, versus earlier levels of $245 on light speculative lending. Business was thin as New York's Comex market was closed for an extended Thanksgiving holiday. But dealers said the market was wary about next Wednesday's options declaration for December. The main concern was if December copper got close to $2,600 where there is a large concentration of open interest on calls. Aluminium prices were lower, ending $17 down at $1,538, despite a 4,925-tonne decline in LME stocks. However, dealers noted light forward interest, following early-week Far Eastern and fund buying. Lead prices fell to 10-month lows after LME stocks spiked up by 5,475 tonnes. Recent weak closes heaped on additional downward pressure, dealers said. Lead was last quoted at $685/86, versus $692. Support was expected to emerge at $674. Zinc finished $3 higher at $1,071 per tonne, while tin bounced up around $25 and was last quoted at $6,105/10. Nickel, which came under pressure from a further stock rise in the morning, ended at $6,835, down $85. Aluminium alloy was last quote at $1,367/70, down $18. FRANCUSKI METALI - 29. studenoga 1996.
