Benchmark three months delivery copper was last at $1,998, down on its high of 2,005 and Friday's LME kerb close of $2,007. Traders said selling and resistance above $2,000 is likely to continue to overhang the market, though they did not believe a significant sell-off was approching. "Its struggling on the upside but overall copper remains in consoidation," one trader said. However, several traders warned that a break below key support at $1,985 could spark a selling spree down to $1,925. "We have seen early selling emerging, which has capped the market," one trader said. News that a strike at Chile's Candelaria copper mine had ended after six days failed to impact seriously on prices, as production at the 150,000 tonne facility had not been affected. Tuesday's stocks remained the main focus of attention. They currently stand at six-year lows of 113,400 tonnes. Several traders suggested they were due to fall over the coming weeks. Aluminium trended lower with copper despite a 96,000 tonnes fall in total IPAI stocks in September to four-year lows of 3.257 million tonnes. One trader said, "I remain friendly towards aluminium, though like copper it lacks stong upside momentum at the moment." Last business was at $1,443, a #7 loss. Nickel, after breaking below $7,200, came under general selling pressure. It was last at $7,190, versus $7,260. Traders said they were not surprised at nickel's retracement, given copper's lack of upside momentum. It earlier hit a low of $7,170. Sell-stops knocked zinc and lead. Zinc was last at $1,051, down $13, while lead settled at $729, against $735. Tin was indicated by the close of morning business at $5,900/10, versus $5,925. Alloy was last quoted at $1,290/95, down from $1,300/05. FRANCUSKA BURZA KOVINA - 08. studenoga 1996. BAKAR FFR/100 K 1124 KOSITAR FFR/100 KG 3569 CINK EL.
