A BRIEF LOOK AT CROATIAN PRESS ON WEDNESDAY

ZAGREB, Aug 3 (Hina) - Today's VJESIK brings an article on the refugee blockade of UNPROFOR, under the title: "Through 'humanity' they support occupation." The article claims that "UNPROFOR is delivering oil, food and other necessitites under the 'humanitarian' label to occupied Croatian territories, thus supporting the occupation forces and making their life easier in the war situation they themselves have caused." The paper also brings a report on a Croatian parliamentary intiative launched by deputies from occupied territories. VJESNIK carries highlights from a press conference by school trade unions, saying in part: "Whether teachers will start a strike at the beginning of this school year will be known on August 24, after a meeting between three trade unions and the Government. All the trade unions ask are 'indices' stipulated in the agreement on social peace." Another Zagreb-based daily, VECERNJI LIST, says in a front- page article headlined "Aircraft land but do not take off" that the Croatian airspace has been half open for the third year running. "Foreign aircraft only land in Croatia but do not continue their flights to the Near and Far East. And it was transit flights that brought considerable earnings before the outbreak of war. Foreign air companies have chosen a safer route, to the advantage of the Hungarians who have taken over about 80 percent of our transfers," the article says. "Tourists are to 'blame' for higher meat prices" says the headline of an article on the situation in meat industry. The paper quoted farmers as saying that higher meat prices reflected poor agricultural policy as the tourist trade influenced the rise in prices. In the article headlined "A pressure group set up", the paper writes about an initiative by members of the Croatian Parliament who will be touring Croatia in August and meeting with UNPROFOR officials in order to collect information which would help them work out a proposal for the resolution of the UNPROFOR mandate before Parliament convenes in September.
