SARAJEVO, Aug 2 (Hina) - Heavy fighting between the Bosnian army
5th Corps and the forces loyal to renegade Moslem leader Fikret
Abdic is still raging in western Bosnia, said military UNPROFOR
spokesman in Sarajevo Major Rob Annink on Tuesday. He said parts of
Abdic's 4th Brigade remained encircled after the Bosnian army
seized the western-Bosnian township of Pecigrad two days ago.
UN military observers in western Bosnia counted 158
detonations on Monday and 210 on Tuesday morning. The area under
Bosnian Government control also came under attack from Serb
positions yesterday.
UNPROFOR recorded heavy artillery exchanges in the Tuzla area,
northern Bosnia, where 164 detonations were registered on Monday.
Three civilians were wounded on Monday as Visoko (20 km N. of
Sarajevo) came under a mortar attack from nearby Serb positions for
the first time in months, the UN observers said.
