ZAGREB, June 18 (Hina) - A Croatian Interior Ministry delegation,
headed by Interior Minister Ivan Penic, on Thursday returned from a
three-day visit to Turkey, where it travelled at the invitation of
the Turkish Interior Minister Murat Basesgiogluom.
Penic described the visit as successful and useful, stressing that
representatives of the two ministries had agreed on cooperation
between fire-brigades and special police forces.
We have discussed legal and illegal migrations and concluded that
we need to cooperate more in fighting international organised crime
and drug trafficking, Penic said.
The annual profit from drug trafficking in the whole world amounts
to US $400 billion and part of the money is spent on terrorist
operations, Penic said.
The Croatian delegation has proposed for the two countries to sign a
re-admission agreement but the Turkish Interior Minister said that
Turkey had already regulated the status of and procedure for people
whose stay is illegal.
The visit of the Croatian delegation has confirmed the good
relations between the two states, Penic said adding that both sides
had expressed a wish for better cooperation.
