SARAJEVO, May 25 (Hina) - United States Ambassador to Bosnia-
Herzegovina Richard Kauzlarich and Premier of the Federation of
Bosnia-Herzegovina Edhem Bicakcic signed an agreement on training
Federation police officers on Monday in Sarajevo.
Kauzlarich said this was another important step which the US
government was undertaking in the establishment of a democratic
police force and reforms of the judicial system in the Federation.
He recalled projects such as "Supervising Neighbourhoods" and a
training programme against narcotics, which was successfully
carried out in both Bosnian entities.
Bicakcic thanked the US government for its assistance in training
and equipping the Federation police, stressing he believed that the
restructuring of the police would be completed successfully with
the support of the US government, the International Police Task
Force and other international factors.
Today's agreement is an introduction to the implementation of a
program for training and equipping members of the Interior Ministry
in fighting public disorder on a wider scale.
The agreement will be implemented on the canton and municipal
levels.
