LIVNO, June 12 (Hina) - The government of the Herceg-Bosna has
decided to allow the canton interior ministry to issue driver's
licences with Latin and Cyrillic titles, in line with the decision
of the international High Representative in Bosnia-Herzegovina,
Carlos Westendorp.
However, the government considers that the issuing of such licences
is against the Constitutions of the Croat-Muslim Federation and the
canton.
In a statement issued after a special session on Friday, it is said
that the decision on allowing the issuing of driver's licences with
Latin and Cyrillic titles was made in order to enable the further
regular functioning of the economic system and passenger traffic
outside of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The canton government also asked the Federation Premier and
Vice-Premier to initiate procedures at the Constitutional Court
for assessing the constitutionality of Westendorp's decision.
