SISAK, Oct 27 (Hina) - Associations of families of victims and
invalids of the Homeland War in Sisak-Moslavina County have
announced a new rally for 30 October (Saturday) protesting against
a too slow process of establishing the fate of people who went
missing during the Serb aggression against Croatia.
There are still 342 soldiers and civilians from this county who are
no lists of missing persons.
The rally will be staged in Dvor (90 kilometres south-east of
Zagreb), said a representative of the aforementioned societies,
Mario Marot.
Marot told reporters that letters had been forwarded from the
protest rally, held in the town of Glina on September 30, to all Serb
parties and associations in Croatia, Serb MPs in the National
Sabor, OSCE, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the
Croatian National Confidence Building Committee, asking them to
help in the search for missing people.
Out of all those to whom letters were sent, only MP Veselin Pejnovic
answered, Marot said adding that Pejnovic expressed his support to
their endeavours. He promised to help us and we thank him, Marot
added.
We are outraged at the failure of all others, whom we notified
orally or in a written manner, to respond, and we remind them of the
civilisation obligations and the culture of living and
communications, Marot said.
He said he was especially dissatisfied that other known Serb
politicians in Croatia, Milan Djukic and Milorad Pupovac had not
responded, as they exert such influence on the Serb population that
they can contribute to shedding more light on the destiny of the
missing.
At the announced rally in Dvor, the gathered will request local
Serbs, Serb returnees, the OSCE, the ICRC and people of good will to
help them to establish more quickly the destiny of their missing
members of families in order that they can be buried in dignified
manner and according to religious rituals, Marot told the news
conference.
