ZAGREB, Sept 26 (Hina) - The sixth anniversary of the laying of the first bricks with the names of missing and killed Croatian soldiers during the Homeland War in front of the United Nations headquarters in Zagreb was marked by a
commemoration Sunday in front of the Wall of Pain. The bricks on which were written the names of people who had gone missing during the Serb aggression and occupation of parts of Croatia were used by th families to set up a wall on the pavement called the Wall of Pain. The organiser of the gathering is the centre for the protection of human rights of missing and imprisoned Croatian citizens and their families, "Apel". The association, recalling all the victims of war, sent an open letter to the United Nations, asking that next year be proclaimed the year of missing persons. mass graves 50 years old.
Apel head Zdenka Farkas stressed that the destroyed homes and all
those killed and missing in the Homeland War were permanent
evidence that the United Nations did not have a developed mechanism
for the protection of human rights, as proclaimed in the Human
Rights declaration.
