DETAINED CROATIAN REPORTER MASLE DISAPPEARS

PODGORICA, June 8 (Hina) - Croatian reporter Antun Masle disappeared from the Podgorica clinic centre on Sunday night, after he was taken from the Pre-trial Detention to hospital to this clinic where he was to be treated duo to heart problems, said the "Vijesti" daily in the Montenegrin capital on Tuesday. According to unofficial information, during the evening Masle complained that he was feeling sick and asked to see a doctor urgently. Pre-trial Detention authorities have stated they tried to contact the military police, but could not get in touch with them. Therefore Pre-trial Detention staff on its own took Masle to the hospital. When they noticed that he had vanished, a search was launched, but gave no results. After the Podgorica clinic's urgency ward established that Masle was suffering from the inflammation of the pancreas, he was sent to the surgery department 'C' but he did not come there. Eye-witnesses claimed that being accompanied by two uniformed persons he reached an elevator, but what happened later is still unknown, the "Vijesti" paper said. Ranko Vukotic, the defence attorney of this reporter of Croatia's weekly "Globus", told Hina that Masle had so far got in touch with nobody, nor did he report to his defence counsel.
