factory "Savric" on Thursday morning occupied the firm's
administration building in Jukiceva Street in Zagreb.
The protesters who blocked the premises were led by the head of the
Croatian Workers' Association, Mario Ivekovic.
They said they were resolute not to cease the blockade until their

The workers insist on the revision of the ownership transformation
and privatisation as well as a review of the business activities of
"Savric".
They also urged that it should be established who should be held
accountable for the destruction of this firm which used to be a
leading manufacturer of furniture.
The participants in the sit-in also asked for jobs for over 400
remaining "Savric" employees.
They insisted on the payment of costs of the bankruptcy procedure as
well as the payment of cash grant for workers who had worked in the
Savric plants by 31 July last year when the factory filed for
bankruptcy and who were laid off.
The demands were forwarded to Croatian Premier Ivica Racan, the
President of the Commercial Court in Zagreb, Vesna Buljan, and the
bankruptcy commissioner Marinko Tajic.
Ivekovic said workers were ready to sit in around the clock in this
building until their demands are fulfilled.
They will allow the bankruptcy commissioner Tajic to enter the
building but his aides will not be let come in, who are mainly
members of the former management that sealed the failure of Savric
