ZAGREB, March 2 (Hina) - After almost three months of conflicts
concerning ownership relations, employees and management of
Croatia's beverage company Badel 1862 on Thursday signed an
agreement ending a three-month strike.
The management has thus committed itself to solve moot issues and
contracts with the Croatian Privatisation Fund and Croatian
Pension Insurance Fund by one month before the company's stock-
holders' assembly conference, scheduled for May 6, at the latest.
The contentious sale of Badel's wine production plants and
vineyards in Benkovac, Daruvar, Krizevacki vinogradi and Nespes
will also be attempted to be solved.
Liquids and raw materials will not be delivered to Marinko Sulic's
companies in Citluk (Bosnia-Herzegovina) until Sulic's ownership
of a part of Badel stock is solved and the share-holders' assembly
states its standpoint about the issue.
The management also said it would appoint Ante Perkovic, president
of the association of small stock-holders, as deputy director of
production, and president of Badel's Homeland War Veterans'
Association, Ivica Tomicic, as director.
Several hundred gathered workers met the announcement of the
signing of the agreement with an outburst of joy, cheering and
song.
The workers also applauded the invitation by general director Zarko
Zigic for them to restore the faith of consumers, creditors and
business partners with enthusiastic work.
The strike caused Badel 150 million kuna (about US$19.2 million) of
damage.
According to Zigic, goods will start being delivered from
warehouses immediately and production will be restored by Monday.
A part of employees gathered in a coordination for the protection of
the factory, blocked the company's plants in Zagreb late last year,
accusing the former and current management and supervisory board of
illegal privatisation and ownership transformation to the
detriment of small shareholders. They discontinued the blockade
last Monday but insisted still on the resignation of general
director Mario Scherr and other leading persons.
Investigating the privatisation of 'Badel 1862', the financial
police have established a series of irregularities in the purchase
of shares, the Croatian Privatisation Fund reported last Tuesday.
